5.16-21.2012 Dominique and I went to New York to attend the graduation of my grandson Tyler Doremus from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs (photo on left with mom Jeannie) and to visit Don and Marcis Flaks (below right) in Bedford. Our first full day was spent seeing the sites in NYC with Don and Marcia as our guides. The 911 Memorial was utterly overwhelming. In the late afternoon we took the ferry to Staton Island when I took the photo to the right. The next day Marcia took me into Manhattan where I spent the day at the wonderful Frick Museum (no photos), the
Metropoliton Museum (with Velazquez's Juan de Pareja; detail above lower left (click on image to enlarge) and here's my copy), the Neue Galerie (with Klimt's painting of Adele Bloch-Bauer) and the Picasso/Françoise exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery. The Met had the Stein's Exhibition ongoing. Catalogues of the Steins Collect and Picasso/Françoise Exhibition are worth the purchase. In my view, The Frick has, for a fairly small museum, an upper, upper collection of historical European masterpieces extant.......Memorable day and trip.
